Kamp Kappa - June 22-27, 2008, at the Hemlock Overlook in Clifton, VA
Kamp Kappa will conduct its annual summer camp on June 22-27, 2008, at the Hemlock Overlook in Clifton, VA. The camp is a week-long overnight camp for inner-city boys between 10-15 years old. This will be the 15th consecutive year the camp has been conducted. Students will be exposed to environmental education, seminars and one-on-one discussions about risk awareness, drug abuse, self-esteem, health awareness and etiquette.

The campers will participate in a youth-oriented “Street Law Seminar” which will culminate in a mock trial conducted in the actual courtrooms of the Fairfax County Courthouse (Fairfax, VA), and an “up-close-and-personal” tour of the Fairfax County Jail. The students will also enjoy canoeing, swimming, museum tours, and a variety of other activities. The students will also be treated one day with a trip to King’s Dominion amusement park.

The sponsorship cost for a child is $650. All donations are 100% tax deductible. For more information, please contact Mr. Monte Ingram (monte@monteandevelyn.com), or Mr. George Chavis (gchavis@ix.netcom.com).

A-MAN award presentation - The A-MAN program Samuel Massie project was awarded by the Samuel Massie Elementary School Principal at their partners in education assembly in April. Brother Cooley accepted the award on behalf of the Province Polemarch.

Future Province Student of the Year Competitions - A new working model is being established for future Student of the Year competitions. The idea is to be able to present the students with more valuable award prizes, without taxing the Province for the increase itself. Brother Cooley will be developing an outline model, but will need assistance and input from other brothers (especially from those of you who felt adamant about the lesser award amounts and made it known to Brother Cooley). Contact Brother Cooley if you wish to participate in this process. Brothers' participation for the competition is our MAIN concern...
