Brett LaGue
ENERGY IN ALL THINGS
Drawings and Paintings in Water Based Media
Whether by observing the power of a flooded stream as it roll across its banks into surrounding fields, or noting that fewer toads make their home in his neighborhood with each passing year, Brett LaGue’s work is based on an acute awareness of the environment’s influence over man, man’s impact on the environment, and the physical and visual energy inherent in both. His drawings and paintings interpret these energies, as he experiences them, as unique sensory experiences.
Brett’s drawings and paintings have appeared in national and regional juried shows and exhibitions since 1985, including the recent 20" x 20” x20": A National Compact Competition, at Louisiana State University, March through April, 2008. His work is included in both private and public collections in the mid-Atlantic region.
A love of the outdoors makes it difficult for Brett to stay inside a building for any length of time. A native of the radically changeable climate of South Bend, Indiana, Brett spent his teenage years enjoying the ocean spray in Vero Beach, Florida. He now finds inspiration at the foot of Mason’s Knob with his wife, two cats and a dog, in Roanoke, Virginia.
Brett is an honors graduate of Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota Florida.
