Artist Bio

Jane Weiner

I studied art in college at RPI (now Virginia Commonwealth University).  After I married and had children I didn’t have much time for making art, but I always sketched, and I read about art and the lives of artists.

I worked for Fink’s Jewelers for thirty-five years, retiring in 1999.  I was accepted to study painting and drawing at Hollins University and joined The Market Gallery when it opened in December, 2002.  I shared a studio at the gallery until the gallery moved in May, 2006.

I work every day in my home studio, painting, drawing and making assemblages. I have changed my approach and style several times, reaching for ways to express myself with art, particularly color.  In college I was taught a lot of rules about color, which now I freely break based on what I learn as I experiment.  I am one of those persons who is committed to life-long learning.

Contact information:  I may be reached at (540) 774-4533 or through the gallery at 342-1177.
